What I’m Loving, Edition February 2025

Happy end of February! What a month we’ve had here in Tennessee. First we had fake Spring with beautiful warm weather, then flash flooding, and last – snow! Never a dull moment, that’s for sure!

Here are a few things I’ve been loving recently: (some links are affiliate, as usual)

Something to Read:

  • The Borrowed Life of Frederick Fife: This book, y’all. We read this for one of our recent book club picks and I couldn’t put it down. It follows a sweet and lonely elderly man who finds friendship in the most unexpected places. This is definitely one of the best books I’ve read in a long time!
  • All the Colors of the Dark: This book was often difficult to read based on its subject matter but it was so good. An epic journey of friendship spanning 30 years, I enjoyed the mystery of it all.
  • James: This book is EVERYWHERE right now. It’s a retelling/reimagining of the Huckleberry Finn story told from the perspective of Jim, the slave. I listened to this book and it was so good. It was a hard read – it does deal with slavery after all – but I enjoyed it immensely.

Bible Studies:

  • Luke in the Land: Kristi McLelland takes you on a journey to the Holy Land in this deep dive into Scripture. It never fails that I learn something new when she’s teaching. Grab a copy of this, gather some friends, watch the included videos, and dive in. I’d love to know what stands out to you!
  • Knowing Jesus as King: This Bible study is part of a series of studies from The Bible Recap. It’s been interesting diving deep into Matthew with a couple friends.
  • 40 Day Sugar Fast: I recently completed a 40 day sugar fast while reading this devotional. It was helpful and encouraging as I tried to stay the course for 40 days. If you’re looking to curb your sugar addiction while growing more dependent on the Lord, this is for you.

Things to Watch or Listen to:

  • Scamanda: I listened to this as a podcast a year or so ago and was completely fascinated by it. Now it’s a docuseries you can watch. It follows a woman named Amanda who claims she has cancer (spoiler: she doesn’t) and scams everyone out of thousands of dollars. Highly recommend!
  • New song: I heard Brandon Lake perform this song several months ago and it nearly did me in. When it finally came out this month, I was super excited. Listen to the words. It’s powerful, y’all.

A Few Fun Things:

  • Fenty Highlighter from Fenty Beauty: This is my favorite highlighter. I use it every morning and I was so sad when I ran out a couple weeks ago. I immediately reordered it, of course.
  • This initial necklace: Bubble necklaces are all the rage and this one is on sale for $10 right now. So you can try it and see if this trend is for you!
  • These chelsea boots: Chelsea boots are everywhere right now and they go with just about everything. If you don’t have a pair, grab these. Super comfy and won’t break the bank!

If you haven’t already, check out some of my books, too!

My adoption memoir: When God Proves Faithful

A devotional for worn-out moms: Mommy Has Crinkles

A devotional for moms of children with special needs: Wanted: 21 Days of Encouragement for Moms of Children with Special Needs

That’s all for now! I’d love to hear what you’re loving this month!
