Fall is in full swing around here and I’m so happy! (Well, temps are supposed to be dropping into the 70s this week so…) Here are some of my favorite things from the past couple months:
Something to Read:
- Duma Key: This is a Stephen King novel but don’t be afraid! It definitely isn’t horror – just a really great story about a broken man who is drawn to an island and experiences a little bit of magic. I am really learning to love Stephen King and some friends highly recommended this book so I picked it up. It didn’t disappoint!
- All the Colors of the Dark: Another beautiful story centered around friendship, a mystery, and learning to live the life dealt to you.
- Summer Romance: Ok, I read this book at the end of summer after I had read waaayyy too many summer romances. You surely know what I mean – they all start running together and they’re so unrealistic that it’s sickening. (Oh, is that too harsh?) But there is something about the way Annabel Monaghan writes women of a certain age. It’s realistic and honest and lovely all at the same time. I really did adore this book – it made me laugh out loud, which almost never happens, yet it was sincere and sweet as well. If you loved Nora Goes Off Script by this author, I really think you’ll love this one too!
Something to Listen to:
- That Sounds Fun Episode #906: This podcast featured Jonathan Merritt, an openly gay Christian man living in NYC, and his dad, who is a conservative pastor in the south. Their conversation was raw and honest and the way they respect and love each other is something we can all learn from. I loved this conversation.
- Who Killed JFK podcast: If you haven’t listened to this podcast yet, please stop what you’re doing and go download all the episodes. I’ve always been just a little obsessed with JFK, Jackie, Camelot – the whole thing. But this podcast series really did a number on me. It also made me trust the government a little less than I already did.
- Made for This with Jennie Allen – College Revival Episode: I think Jennie Allen is a great Bible teacher and I love her involvement in the college movement happening on campuses around the USA. For some reason, this episode made me very teary. Give it a listen and let me know your thoughts.
Things to Make Life a Little Easier:
- Nutribullet: My Ninja blender recently broke (I dropped it and it shattered) so I downsized to the nutribullet. Best decision I’ve made in a long time! I make a protein shake almost every morning and I love this blender so much! I just pop the cup on, blend it up, take the cup off, and drink right from it. I can’t believe how convenient it is!
- Sharpie S-gel blue ink pens: One of my coworkers recently dropped a pack of these on my desk and it made me so happy! These pens are smooth and are the perfect weight. They’re definitely my new fave!
- Tempo meals: Y’all. I never thought I’d be a meal order gal. But a friend came to work with some of these meals for lunch and they looked so good I had to try them. I’m here to tell you – they’re delicious and healthy! Lots of protein and fun veggies – I order them almost weekly and I haven’t had a bad meal yet!
Just for Fun:
- American Eagle Pants: I bought two pair of these pants at the end of summer – a black pair and a green pair. They are the comfiest pants I’ve ever owned! They’re light enough to wear when it’s warm outside but heavy enough that they don’t look too summery. I will be wearing these all year round!
- Dancing with the Stars: Tuesdays are a treat around here because Brie, Vivi, and I watch DWTS. This season is amazing, especially with the Pommel Horse Hero! How can you go wrong?
That’s it for now. Let me know what you’re loving this month!
