January was 10 million years long and suddenly February is over. I don’t understand how one month feels like forever and the next feels like a blink.
Anyway, here are some of my favorites from February!
Something to Listen to:
- Blurry Creatures Episode 163: Alright. Hear me out. The Blurry Creatures podcast is all about big foot and crop circles and aliens, which isn’t something I’m usually into. But the hosts discuss these things from a biblical perspective. And whether you agree with them or not, it’s still fascinating. I listened to this episode first and was left with more questions than answers. I’ve since listened to several more episodes and found them all to be very interesting. If you’re into myths and conspiracy theories, you should definitely give this podcast a listen.
- That Sounds Fun Episode #832 with Mike Foster: I loved this episode because I’m a sucker for any type of personality test. And Mike Foster has developed/tweaked (I’m not sure) a sort of personality test which looks at your highest emotional need. Really cool stuff if that’s something you like to dive into.
Something to Read:
- Jill Duggar’s book Counting the Cost: You may be sick of the Duggar family and all of their drama and hypocrisy by now but I always want to hear every side to a story. It’s just the way my personality works. So when Jill’s book became available, I jumped at the chance to listen. It was equal parts sad and wonderful. Her eyes have been opened to the lies that were fostered in her family and now she’s living in a way that she feels is pleasing to God without being so legalistic. I think, ultimately, that’s what we’re all seeking. This was a great book and I especially enjoyed listening to it in her own voice.
- Carrie Soto is Back: I realize I’m a little late to the party on this book. Honestly, I was hesitant to read it because I just didn’t love the last couple books this author released. But when I finally decided to start it, well, I just couldn’t put it down. The story was beautifully written, and the character development was phenomenal. Carrie Soto is the villain you want to root for! The end of the book was deeply moving on many levels and I’m so glad I gave this one a chance. It will definitely end up on my favorite books of the year list!
Something to Watch:
- Traitors Season 1: This game show is streaming on Peacock. Brie got me hooked on it and she and I watched it together every night. The premise is this: a group of people (some famous, some not) are brought to a castle in Scotland and 3 are secretly picked to be “traitors.” No one knows who the traitors are and the “faithfuls” must try to eliminate the “traitors.” Each day also brings a challenge where the players can add money to the prize pot. Season 1 was really good – I even let my 11year old watch it. Season 2, on the other hand, seems to be a little more drama-filled so if that’s not your cup of tea, you can skip it.
- Jonathan and Jesus on Amazon Prime: This four-part docuseries follows Jonathan Roumie who plays Jesus on The Chosen as he experiences fame and faces the reality that people treat him as if he’s really Jesus. The documentary also brings in other pastors and leaders to talk about Jesus and what being a follower of Christ truly means. If you like The Chosen, I think you’ll like this as well.
- The Greatest Night in Pop: This documentary is all about the making of the song “We are the World.” I was about 10 years old when that song was released and it was a world favorite, for sure! Stream this on Netflix – I think you’ll really like it!
Something for Fun:
- This highlighter: I am sadly always on the hunt for something to make my skin look younger and brighter. Well, I recently discovered this highlighter and I absolutely love it! If you’re looking for something to brighten up your face, this might be just the thing you’re looking for!
- Cherry Chocolate Cake: I make this every single Valentine’s Day and it’s my favorite! It absolutely melts in your mouth. For the record, I bake mine in a 9×13 pan and it’s perfect. Try it and enjoy!
That’s it for February. I’d love to hear some of your favorites too!
