Happy August, friends! It’s been hotter than I’ve ever experienced here in Tennessee and I’m ready for some cooler weather. I’m sure you are too! But I’ve got lots of fun things for you to check out from this month. Let me know some of your favorites!
Something to read:
- The Book of Lost Names: one of the most interesting historical fiction novels I’ve ever read about World War II. This one follows the forgers who helped hundreds of Jewish children escape from the Nazis.
- All That’s Left Unsaid: a powerful story of family, heartbreak, immigration, and acclimation to an unfamiliar culture. This book follows a young Vietnamese woman who returns home to help investigate the murder of her brother. I’m still thinking about this one…
- Women Who Risk: true stories of Muslim women who encounter Jesus and how their lives radically change. Beautifully heart-wrenching, yet hopeful.
Something to watch:
- Jury Duty: this “documentary” follows one juror who thinks he’s being filmed as he serves on a jury while, unbeknownst to him, the rest of the jury are actually actors. It’s hysterical and sweet and I loved it!
Something to wear:
- Abercrombie Midi Dresses: these dresses are adorable and have such a fun flow! If you’re tall-ish, they’ll hit you right at a midi-length, but if you’re short, they’ll be almost a maxi. Either way is perfect!
- This dress from Old Navy: I recently bought this dress and it’s quickly become one of my favorites. I get so many compliments every time I wear it and the colors are perfect for fall.
Something for your spiritual journey:
- Brandon Lake Coat of Many Colors: I got to see Brandon perform this song before its release and I was blown away. So good. Pre-download it so you can listen as soon as it’s released!
- Gideon Bible Study: a friend suggested we work through this Bible study together and I almost said no. I thought I was too busy, there was too much to do. I’m so glad I decided to say yes. Priscilla Shirer is a phenomenal Bible teacher and I learned new things, not only about Gideon, but about myself. Highly recommend this one if you’re looking for a Bible study this fall.
