It’s my last Favorite Things post of 2022 – I can’t believe the New Year is only a few days away. I hope all of you have had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to what 2023 can bring.
I thought I would end this year with some of my favorites from all of 2022 as well as a couple new items. And as always, I’d love to hear some of your favorite things! (some links are affiliate)
Here goes!
Things to Read:
- The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer: all about Sabbath and rest – I think we could all use this encouragement as we start a new year.
- Walking with God by John Eldredge: a book I think I’ll read every year.
- Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus: a fun, quirky look at life in the 60s (fiction)
- The Winners by Fredrik Backman: the third in a series but by far the most moving work of fiction I read all year
Things to Watch:
- Somebody Feed Phil: I love this show on Netflix. If you love food and travel, this is the one for you!
- CODA: this movie follows the story of Ruby, the only hearing person in her family as she pursues her passion amidst the fear of disappointing her family. Beautifully heartwrenching and tender – everyone should watch.
- Save Our Squad: We watched this docuseries on Disney+ with our kids and it was great! It follows a struggling kids soccer club in England which is intriguing in itself. (I’m a sucker for an underdog story.) But to make it even better, David Beckham comes to help out with their club. It’s so great and made me respect him even more than I already did.
Things to Listen to:
- This Dadville episode with Bob Goff: Come on, who doesn’t love Bob Goff. This episode is full of stories and encouragement!
- This podcast episode with John and Lisa Bevere: encouraging insight on marriage from two people I respect.
- This episode of Hey! It’s the Luskos: an honest interview with country music star Granger Smith and his wife Amber as they discuss the death of their son River.
A Few Extras:
- Lash Princess Mascara: still my very favorite mascara, even after trying all the expensive brands. This one is $5, y’all.
- Rosehip Oil: another forever favorite, this oil has so many anti-aging benefits and it’s super cheap. I still use it almost every day. Even though I use other products, I always come back to this one.
- Flair Pens: If you haven’t jumped on the bandwagon for these pens, then I don’t know where you’ve been. I love them so much – I use them ALL the time. Grab a set today!
- Spanx Flair jeans: These are currently my very favorite jeans – they aren’t super bell-bottomy but have just enough flair to make my legs look longer than they are. Plus they’re very comfy!
Two Things for the New Year!
- My favorite planner: I’ve used the Full Focus planner now for over a year and I absolutely love it! It has plenty of space in the daily feature for me to write down all my appointments and work meetings, plus it helps me prioritize my top three items that must get done each day. I was a little hesitant because it’s undated, but I actually love it! If you’re looking for a new planner – this one might be your new fave!
- This journal: I bought this journal last year after hearing about it on a podcast but I didn’t use it at all, mainly because I still had space in my current journal. But I’m finishing up with the one I’ve been using and found this one in my nightstand, just waiting to be used. It has space to journal (obviously), but also pages to check off when you read a book of the Bible, pages for prayer requests and answered prayers, pages for Scripture memory, and pages to write down books you read throughout the year. There are also monthly sticker tabs you can use and a table of contents where you can keep track of topics you journal about. I can’t wait to dive into this in January. It’s perfect for me and allows me to keep everything in one place.
And that’s it for my 2022 favorite things. I’d love to hear some of your favorite things from this past year!
Happy New Year, Friends!
