What kind of person are you? A goal-setting person or a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants person? I like to think of myself as a goal-setting person but often I still find myself just going with the flow.
Each year I set goals but by March I’ve often forgotten what they are. I haven’t had a way to track them and once they’re out of sight, they’re out of mind. But this year I’m trying something different. I’m using the Full Focus Planner to help me stay on track with my yearly goals. I heard about this planner on a 10 Things to Tell You podcast episode, and I immediately ordered one. So far I love it!
Since I’m a goal-setter, I’m going to list a few of the goals I’ve set for this year. I’d love to hear your goals too!
- Read 52 books: Last year my goal was to read 50 books and I ended up reading 52. So this year I made that a goal, and I think I’m well on my way. So far in January I’ve read 7 books and I’m about to finish my 8th. Do you have a reading goal?
- Read 6 books of the Bible with the kids: If you’re a parent, you know how difficult family devotions can be. We’ve read through Louie Giglio’s Indescribable and the kids have loved learning all sorts of new scientific facts that pertain to scripture. But they’re getting a little old for this particular book so I decided we should start reading through the Bible. It’s a challenge, for sure. Keeping kids on track with discussions is hard anyway, but add in some difficult Scripture passages and it’s 10 times worse. However, we’ve already read through Jonah and we are working our way though Matthew. I think 6 books is manageable for our family so that’s my goal. How does your family handle family devotions?
- Watch all the Marvel movies in order: I thought this would be a fun goal to work through with Peter, Jonah, and Vivienne. I’m not a huge Marvel fan but it’s been interesting to see how everything actually ties together. The creator of Marvel is a genius! And this goal has been great for movie nights!
- Pay off my van: We bought our van a couple years ago after going for years and years with no debt. So now I really want to pay this joker off. I’m not sure it can be done in a year but I’m willing to try!
- Run 200 miles: This is quite the lofty goal for me since I basically have no time during the work-week to exercise. And at the rate my January is going, I’ll be lucky to get to 100 miles by December. But I’m going to try – that’s all I can do, right? What are your health goals for this year?
I have some other goals as well but I’ll spare you any more. I’d love to hear what your goals are and how you track them!
Happy 2022!
