Hey, everyone! I know it may seem like I’ve dropped off the earth over here. So sorry about that! Things have been crazy – our oldest daughter graduated from high school so we had lots of activities related to that event. Then we scooted off on a road trip with our little family of six, which was a ton of fun!
But mostly, I’ve had no mental space to write or blog or do much of anything now that summer is here. I think my brain had been so overloaded throughout the school year that it basically went into shut-down mode for a few weeks. But hopefully I’m back! Ha!
To kick it all off, I thought I would bring you a few of my favorite things from the past couple months. Some of these are older (since I took 2 months off – oops!) but they are still relevant. And as always, I would LOVE to hear what you’re loving right now!
- This interview with Harry Connick Jr: Who doesn’t love Harry Connick, Jr? Seriously. I’ve always adored him – maybe it’s because he’s a Louisiana boy or maybe because I swooned over him in Hope Floats, but there’s just something down-to-earth about him. He was on the That Sounds Fun Podcast not too long ago and once again, I was impressed with his knowledge and charisma and love of Jesus and boy-next-door charm. Check it out!
- My Echelon! Ok, so I didn’t get a Peleton. I know everyone who has one loves it but I just couldn’t fork over the money or the monthly membership. I mean, what if I hated it? So instead, Peter got me an Echelon for Mother’s Day and I absolutely love it! I ride it almost every day and I get a great workout from it! If you’re on the fence about a bike of some sort, I encourage you to take the plunge and get one!
- Our Road Trip! We recently took a road trip for our summer vacation. We stopped at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, OH, where the kids got their thrills on tons of roller coasters. Then we headed to Niagara Falls and rode the Maid of the Mist. I highly recommend seeing the falls this way! And last, we stopped at the Creation Museum in Kentucky. We debated about stopping there, but I’m so glad we did. Our kids are old enough now to understand and enjoy everything they saw and read, and it lead to lots of discussions about dinosaurs and the Bible. If you’re ever in the area, you should go!
- In Five Years: I recently read this book, and I have to say – it’s probably the best book I’ve read all year. It follows the story of a young woman who wakes up in a strange apartment with a strange man five years in the future. The remainder of the book traces the previous five years and how she got there. The story is mostly one of a beautiful friendship and takes a few turns I didn’t see coming. (Content warning – there is some language and maybe a mild sex scene. I can’t really remember about that one.) If you’re looking for a great summer read, grab a copy of this book. You won’t be disappointed.
I have so much more to share with you, but I’ll wait till next month. Hope you can find something on this list to enjoy!
