What I’m Loving, Edition August 2018

The first month of school is over and things are settling down around the Terrebonne house as we get into a good routine. I hope all of you are settling in as well.

I have lots of favorites from the month of August but here are just a few:

  1. Worship: Our church is in a bit of a transition at the moment. The worship leader for our campus has been called to another church so our campus has been bringing in different people to help lead our congregation as they search for someone to fill the role. I will get into all this more in-depth with a later blog post but let me just say this: I’m fully realizing the importance of worship no matter what my feelings say. And one of my current favorite worship songs is Do It Again by Elevation Worship. Check it out if you haven’t heard it. I can barely keep myself together whenever we sing it – it’s so good!
  2. These shoes: I really really tried to avoid the Birkenstock craze. Seriously. I remember wearing Birks back in the day when we lived in North Dakota – before they were the trendy thing to wear – and I thought they were ugly then. So when they made a comeback, I was less than impressed. However, I recently purchased a pair, and I have to say – I LOVE them. I am constantly walking up and down the halls of my school and these shoes haven’t let me down. They are so comfortable and they go with just about everything. If you haven’t yet jumped on the Birkenstock train, try these. I think your feet will thank me. 🙂
  3. Teaching high school life group: I was a little hesitant a year ago when I was asked to teach the high school girls life group at our church. I wondered what I could offer them and if I was qualified enough to do it. Of course, I’m not qualified – I’m no Bible scholar, although I was once a high school girl so I can sort of relate to all their feelings and fears. And I do love these girls so much. I love getting to hear about their lives and watch as they mature and grow into Christ-followers. Our youth ministry has recently adopted a new curriculum which I also love from YM360, and it’s really great. It combines deep dives into scripture along with topics relevant to the lives of our students. I’m thankful God sort of shoved me into being a part of this ministry.

And that’s it for this month! Happy fall!
